First time visiting The Birch, we normally go to the sister restaurant The Black Horse at Ireland. The staff at The Birch were friendly and attentive. There was a relaxed atmosphere which was inviting. The food was delicious I have the Ham Hock Terrine to start followed by the Lamb shoulder served with mash and mushroom finished with a Apple and Blackberry Crumble with Custard. Everything was define! We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend well worth a visit!

We were so grateful for the amazing Sunday lunch today. There were 16 of us for an 80th dinner, the food, service and the team were amazing. All plates were completely emptied. We can’t thank the team enough for making it a wonderful celebration, from giving our dad a birthday card and a special pudding, you made the day so lovely. We will be back

Had an absolutely stunning lunch with amazing food... service was fabulous... it’s not cheap but it’s very good. Special meatball starter and Bao bun were very good and the Pina Colado souffle was excellent

I’ve been wanting to dine at The Birch for years. We finally made it there last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. The exterior has beautiful hanging baskets making the entrance very inviting. The interior decor is lovely and bright yet has a calm, relaxing feel. All the staff were so friendly and attentive throughout the evening. The food was delicious. We both had a starter and a main and shared the cheese board. I would definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again.

A Wonderful Evening at The Birch – A Perfect Sister to The Black Horse Having regularly visited The Black Horse, we decided to try its sister pub, The Birch, and booked for a Saturday night. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, instantly setting the tone for the evening. The pub has a lovely, vibrant atmosphere and a real buzz about the place. The service stood out as exceptionally personal and genuine — the team work together seamlessly, which is always lovely to see. Over the course of our meal, we enjoyed conversations not just with our server but also the manager and even the chef, which made the experience feel all the more special. We opted for three courses, and the food was nothing short of outstanding – clearly something both pubs pride themselves on. My wife had the duck, which she described as incredible, while I went for the fish and chips, which was absolutely spot on. The real showstopper, however, was dessert. I don’t usually go for pudding, but when I heard the special – a baked doughnut with cider sorbet – I had to try it. Honestly, it was the best dessert I’ve ever had. So good, in fact, that the manager invited the chef out to meet us after hearing how much I’d enjoyed it. Craig, if you're reading this – please consider making that dessert a permanent fixture on the menu! What really makes The Birch stand out is the atmosphere of happiness and teamwork among the staff. The manager mentioned that Craig has a long-standing family connection with the pub, and that personal touch is evident throughout. Will we travel the extra hour to return? Without a doubt. What a fantastic place.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on Valentine’s Day, and it was absolutely lovely. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a bubbly on arrival. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. The menu was set out well with evey course presented and tasting lovely. The table decor was another standout—elegant yet romantic, setting the perfect tone for the occasion. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’ll definitely be back for more special moments!

First time here today. Great initial impressions as the bar area is very welcoming. Excellent customer service, and the option to preorder the food before getting to your table is a really good idea. Very comfortable seating in a bright and clean dining area. Really good food across 3 courses plus coffee. Generous portion sizes and very reasonable pricing. Definitely returning. The politeness of the staff deserves special praise.
